trying to change the body of a 1989 convertable to a second gen what type of problem does any one think im going to run into, and is their any were i can get books to help myself while im doing this???? have a rebuilt frame with a lot of work done to the car, 350 rebuilt 4barrell carb and a vortech serpintine supercharger, zo6 transmission and z06 10 bolt rear end. Suggestions on the rear end ive heard different things about the rear end???

you will run into every problem imaginable, and unimaginable. why would you want to do that? these two cars aren't even built on the same platform.

To do it would be a nightmare.
You'd need a second gen to source the body from to say the least, and at which point, why not just use that one?

Buy a second gen and transfer all your good parts over then sell whats left of the convertable that would be easier

i got a ? for some one who know alittle more than i do...i have an 88 irocz i want to change the body from hard top to convertible. a friend told me it cant be done that my car is a unibody.. is this true and is there any hope in trying? the car has alot of sentametal value to it so if there is anyway possible i would like to know about it thank you

That would be extremely difficult, under the car is alot different between hardtop and converitble, they vert has alot more support to offset the weakness of having no roof. Really this is not question of if, but how much $$$ your willing to throw at it.
