what do i need to beat a ls1?
i have a 94 lt1, 6 speed with l-t headers, x-pipe, airfoil, cai and i want to beat my friends ls1 trans am that is a auto and stock. we have not raced yet. what do you think i will need? thanks
well the headers and cai help you out but i think that the trans am having the ls1 might still have an advantage over you plus its an auto so it could be quicker off the line its hard to say
You will need some pretty serious mods. Stock for stock the two cars are nearly a full second apart. You will need a cam swap or a good shot of nitrous and then you need to hook it up with a set of drag radials.
i agree to disagree with headers and CAI intake i think you should have him by a little...since his transmission is stock he wont have an advantage over you...just shift threw your gears well and ull be fine
How will that make up fpr the fact that a stock LS1 will run low 13's? Headers and a CAI will not drop more than .5 off his 1/4 mile time. Unless the LS1 spins really bad I still say he needs more mods.
that is with a professional driver though and seeing how the LS1 is auto and completely stock he probably doesnt no how to launch it the best or take advantage of his automatic...look how much HP he will be making compared to the stock LS1

why do people always **** on automatics???
why do people always **** on automatics???
i wasnet putting down automatics...i have a well built 700r4 with a stall and tell MANY kids that have 5 and 6 speeds that my auto is faster then theres and have started a thread or two about the subject just not in this forum. All im saying is that if he floors the gas and just spins from the line that, that is going to make it worse for him but if he knew how to properly launch it then the LS1 would be fine
A stock auto LS1 should run anywhere from 13.2 (rare) to 13.7, depending on gears, roof, and model year. Usually around 13.5, which is what mine ran (13.52 @ 104). My g/f ran 13.36 @ 105 with a stock 2.73-geared hardtop and a 2.0 60 ft. Hope this helps.
