well i was on my way to my girl friends house last night at about 11P.M.when i see this car come flying up behind me and ride my *** for about a block or two. So i stop and the next red light and he pulls up next to me, gives a few revs, and i nod at him, agreeing to his challenge, when the light turns green, we both gun it, tires screeching, he gets about a 3/4 car length on me at the launch(he is manual, im Auto with no stall), but then i was surprised i started to walk him, and when we shut down at about 120mph, i was a little more than a car ahead. we stop at the next light, and he rolls his windows down, and i ask him if he was stock? and he said no i have intake, exhaust, headers and throttle body. i was thinking to myselflike WTF???? with all that i still beat you?

tradtionally a LS1 f body will actually dyno higher than a LS1 vette however the vettes lighter weight and supeior suspention make it run faster

 

yeahmy friend wastelling me that my 2002 SS most likely puts down more horses than his 2000 vette, because theyhave the same engine, yet in 2002, they put a wilder cam in the camaro. i know that 02 camaros are rated at 325hp, but they are actually well above that, they were just under rated for insurance purposes, and to not make the vette look bad.

 

LOL i have heard some far fetched stories on this forum but for once this is not one of them. The story its self is very possible. First off the SS in question is very low millage only 24K. The vette was a little older and could have had a ton of miles for all we know. Second he said the vette was a stick so there is a chance for driver faults in there. Also keep in mind in the story the vette is stock. With his list of mods he has evened out the playing field and might even have a small edge. It is possible the vette hit second gear a little hard or a little soft and gave him the chance to pull ahead or one of probably 10 other driver faults that could have gave up a small advantage.

 

You guys are overlooking 1 fact. I will say that the story is probable but a few things had to have happened. The guy had to have a bad shift. And he might of had his ASR turned on which if the tires since any slipping at all will shut the throttle down. Trust me I raced a 03 Vette that was bone stock from a dig I am a M6 and he was auto and I won. Heres the vid. That was me spinning!!
