hi my name is bobby and i'm from the caribbean island of st lucia.i'm 23 years old and been racingfor some yers now.I'm new to this forum and would appreciate your help with my project. I have a 1985 z28 iroc camaro which i use for racing herei n the caribbean. I'm the only one on the entire island running an american car and i need to know what is wrong with my setup. I have a 350 cubic inch small block engine, edelbrock gheaders, 7.65:1 compression speed pro forged pistons, 5 speed manual transmission which came with the car, solid lifter racing camshaft, double valve springs, weiand 177 supercharger, carter electric fuel pump, holley 850 cfm double pumper, powertrax differential system, 4.56 ring and pinion gears, msd boost timing master, recently put ina pair of electric fans, 11.5" hoosier drag slicks. What is worng with this setup...to me i'm not running the way i should be. any recommendations?

i have stock heads..dont know the specs on it but i did have to machine the seats to put the double valve springs becasue of the high lift of the camshaft i put in. And there aren't any timing lights or dyno's here in st lucia so i cant give you that kind of information.

Without any hard data to make a comparison it's nearly impossible to help you out. Stock heads would be a resrtiction, look into a set of iron Vortecs if your on a budget or a set of aftermarket aluminium ones if you have some dough to spend.

On Of My Major problems is traction..Even with such big slicks i cant seem to get them to hook and i run out of rpm in 4th gear before the quarter. What gear ratio would you recommend? I have noticed that the 3.73's worked better than the 4.56 so would a 3.55 rear work better? I broke the 3.73 gears becasue they had a hairline crack. What gear ratio do you think would be the bestfor my situation?

no lights? so u are running on the street? 4.56 is alot of gear, but alot of guys do it. In a 4 speed you would probably be good to stay with 3.73, but i would even lean towards 4.10s. Dont go with too little gear or you wont be able to get out of the hole. Beef up your suspension. have you dont any suspension mods?

bluovlh8er I for one like to see what every new member has to say on this site but I dont like checking new posts that have stupid comments to get your post count up ... it wastes my time ...
As for traction issues in the third gen as previously said I think you may need to evaluate your suspention I know guys who run alot of power to the track (1300 hp) on 12 inch slicks using a ladder bar set up....
