hey fellas; just joined the site and need some input. i just picked up a beautiful 00 ss stick and my father in law wants to race me in his 03 stang cobra stick. Both cars are stock and he is pissing me off saying his car will "easily" hand my *** to me. i dont know much about either cars but he says his smaller engine has a blower and will walk me. i wanna give him a go and make him eat his words for once. any opinions

 

i would say unless hes a bad driver or unless u do somthing to ur ss hes got u beat. stock for stock the 03 cobras have sc and have 390 hp and 390 lbs torque the 00 ss camaro has about 320 hp and 345 lbs torque. i would say look around and do a few things ur car first and even out the power between that cobra and the ss.

get him off the launch.. the 03/04's have IRS and cant lanuch worth crap.. if you get him out of a dig just hope and pray that you can stay ahead.. but from a roll then he's got you beat..

 

All in all, The two as they sit right now Power wise, FoMoCo has ya beat. Now, there is nothing stating he wont miss a gear etc... or that you won't... what I am trying to say is I don't condone street racing in any way ( ) But there is only one sure way to see.....

 

As much as I want to agree, common sense can't let me. Stock for stock the Cobra has win givin equal drivers.

 

Equal drivers, u will get ur as handed by the cobra... sorry,, its just the truth...the only chance u got is from a stop.. but he will still chase u down very quickly....

 

Secretly buy and install a wet 100 hp NOS kit. The just hang His *** out to dry.

 

U will get reamed!! Ford claims 390 HP and 390 Torque but they were more like 430 HP. I have seen dozens of stock cobras dynoed and they were all between 360 and 375 to the tires.
