ok iwas driving to work this morning an noticed an black 02ish looking mustang behind me. could really do anything because of traffic. so i slow down before my turn an this mustang pass me an i noticed it had mach on the back. now i heard that these mach mustang can run with ls1. how well will an lt1 hold up against one. i have an 93 z28 camaro my mods are cai, hooker aero chamber muffler, shift kit, hypertech stat 180, hypertech chip and 2.73 gears.. would i have gotten beat bad or would it have been a drivers race.

 

stock vs stock, mach1's will get burned by LS1's. they are not that fast. your LT1 would have given him a run for his money.

 

their isnt much that will run with a ls1. even the vettes ( 2000+ non c6 z06's ) will get its run with a supersport.


drivers race i would say. never know that big boy may be suped.

 

im afraid that mach would get you, especially with those 2.73s there pretty quick cars, not slow by any stretch of the imagination. Remember they are the same motor as the non S/C cobra. They are rated at 13.2 in the 1/4 with is pretty much the same as an LS1.

 

didnt know that! but since you mentioned cobra, i remember a while back i heard that mach's was procharged? or am i thinking of something else.

 

If the mach 1 driver is really good and knows how to launch well and shift fast I'd take the Mustang by a small margin. It has only a slight advantage though and if I were in a clean, good running LT1, I would never shy away from a contest. If I had serious mods, like headers and a cam, I would not worry (unless, of course, the Mach is modified, too). Its close to 50/50 on the street, probably 60/40 with the advantage to the Mustang at the track.

the machs (also 03/04) are N/A 32v's

 

yeah my camaro is in good running condition. the engine and tranny are both newly rebuilt. i figured that mach would have beaten me.

 

It's nice to see some people still have respect for the LT1. Not the best but still a good motor. Not trying to take anything away from the Mach.

 

mach edges you out by about 20 horse power and has a little less torque than you do if i rememeber correctly so it would have been very close
