RE: LT1vs. 96 cobra
the only reason that i ask, as many people here know, we have had some issues with MF members coming to hassle the camaro owners...but so long as people are here to bs and not to hassle people, all is well!\
as for the C6, my dad had several vettes when i was young, and he sold them. he has since worked his way through cars as i have gotten older, and he is currently driving a bmw that was a joint effort between him and i. he is now thinking about selling the bimmer, and looking into a C6, but i doubt that he will.

I've never seen a stock 1996 Cobra run faster than 14.30s. However, I have heard some stories (lies, I'm sure) about putting 4.11s in them, along with an exhaust and intake, and running 13.20s. I don't see it happening, but who knows......

GM's LS1s were under-rated from the factory. The 305 or 310 Hp engines put down about 290 at the rear wheels, only about 7% looses through the trans and drivetrain and tires - you normally expect around 11% - 15%. For comparison a stock 345 HP 89 vette would put down about 310 HP - 20 more for over 40 more rating.
But the Ford must have been a bit sick: 227 RWHP in a 260 rated engine is about right. I would expect the '96 cobra to put down about 265-270.
