dont know where you getting your info from... all base models 3000gts up to 97 (3rd gen) have the dohc 6g72 222 hp 205 tq same exact engine used in the sl

and as stated by others there heavey so Base and SL are going to be in the 3.8s range as far as the VR-4 its not gonna blow the LT1 away its gonna be darn close if you convince him to run from a low roll is were you best shot is LS1 take out the VR-4 without to much trouble my opinion

these are the numbers listed on msn autos.com directly from mistsu so if you are feeling that you know the engines that they put out better than they do you may want to go apply for a job becuse they likey need sombody to clear that up for them

we went over that in a different thread. there WAS a 161hp 3kGT. dont know what years, but it is incorrect to say EVERY base had 222 hp

also, im just going to add for the benefit of 3000gtski.... i mean everyone here:
he beat up on a 3kGT with an ls1, which, regardless of its trim, be it 161hp, 222hp, or the vr4 TT, is totally possible and expected. this will get locked fast if it turns into 30 more pages of BSing and fruitless callouts

My buddy has a stealth 5 speed. And i must say. The stealths performan much better then the 3000gt. And handle much better. I've thought about a 3kgt b4, but after riding in the steatlh, if i were ever to buy one it'd be the stealth for sure. But i still like the looks of both those cars too. Camaros just rape tho! lol

i said all 3000gts UP TO 1997 have the 3.0 DOHC 6g72 222hp... from 1997 - 1999 base models used a 3.0 SOHC 6g72 161 hp motor the SL uses the 3.0 DOHC on all years and the VR4 uses a 3.0 DOHC TT same engine as base/ sl only lower compression pistons and dif cams/heads.. hope this clears up this arguement
