Interesting MKZ vs. early nineties 302 GT
I was in the Lincoln coming home from work last night and at a long red light when an early 90s Mustang GT -- the rather square body with the 5.0 pulled up alongside: all the original aero skirts and slotted tail lights, etc.: looked in very good condition and the engine sounded great -- in my experience its rather rare to see these cars original and in top shape like.
I'll cut out the long story about sitting there and talking to the mid 20ish owner, and simply say I agreed to ashort off-the-line test of acceleration.
When the light went green the Lincoln immediately jumped 2 lengths out in front and just steadily pulled away, up to about 60 when I shut it down. I was surprised even though afterwards it occurred to me that, V6 not withstanding,it has more power (rated 263 vs 250 HP) and a 6-speed auto vs a four speed, and weighs only about100 lbs more.Still, it surprised me as it did, no doubt, the Mustang's owner.
lee lol "agreed to ashort off-the-line test of acceleration" sounds like you guys were exchange in TPS reports.... in anycase good kill man i will say this for ford there newer engines are starting to repair the faults of the past
ORIGINAL: SpecterGT260
. . . old fox's had 225hp, not 265, or 250... whichever one u meant for them (i dont know what the lincoln makes for power)

Regardless, the Lincoln is rated at 263 and 249 ft lbs, which is pretty good for a 3.5 liter V6, and with the 6 speed auto, has low end gears to make up for the low toque. The 2wd version does 60 in 6.6 and quarter at around 93-94, which isn't fast but certain adequate for a luzxury car.
I was surprised to win the race just because the car looked in really good cosmetic shape (almost like it was new) and very few of these things are anywhere near stock HP anymore.
Lee, I can't believe you sold a methanol injected 427 C5R block Corvette for a Lincoln
Nonetheless, good kill on the Stang. I love the way those old Fox Body stangs look, but there just so lacking in power it's sad.

Yeah, alot of people thought I was nuts selling the 'vette. But I had had my fun with it, which was all the selection of parts and re-engineering and testing to get to exactly twice the factory HP (by dyno test, it did exactly that: 352 stock, 704 modded when I sold it.). I loved it but when I drove it I drove it too fast, and daily I preferred the Porsche -- I guess I'm getting old now because anymore I prefer the Lincoln.
