Default High School Drags

My family has been dragracing for years. My dad races a 7 second Altered Roadster, my mom has a low 11s el camino and I have my 79 camaro. This friday is the first High School Drags i'll be able to take my car to since I got my new engine. I built it for the regular bracket races, but the high school race should be god experience before I step in deeper. I've been around racing since I can remember, although I dont have much experience, I'm aware of all the mechanics of how races are won/lost etc, which I hope will give me some sort of edge against my unexperienced counterparts.

Unfortunatly, last month, I blew up my differential. I guess the new ponys, and the shift kit combined with some interesting burnouts made the old 10 bolt unhappy. I have three holes the size of golf ***** in my differential cover, that I hope were made from my spider gears. Basicly, I ended up finding a new 10 bolt with 4.56 gears, and a spool, which is perfect for the strip. So, my car will at least be drivable until my locker gets in, wheel chirping around corners and all lol. I cant wait until friday All I want is a time slip lol. I'm praying for 12s, and with these gears and posi, I should be able to.

Btw, my dads altered has a mechanicly injected 555, all aluminum. 900+ hp To me, my car is slow. I guess that shows what your around changes how you see things. He usually runs 7.60's in the 1/4 at around 177 mph. 0-60 in 1.1 seconds if you can belive that. A top Fuel dragster goes 0-60 in .9 seconds, and they have 7000+ hp. Those funny cars and dragsters actually make as much power as the track will hold, they never use all of their power haha. If a team is matched up against one of their own, the one that dosent need the points as bad just makes more power to spin the tires, and lose like that. That was a brief look at some rather unknown facts about dragracing

Top Fuel do 0-100 in about .8, not trying to downplay what your dad drives or anything because that's still crazy fast...

Either way, good luck at the drags, tear 'em up!

Today was the race, and I didn't have my rear end in yet. I skipped school at noon to come home and slam my new rear end in. Unfortunatly, after research, my new one had a 8.2" ring gear, while my old one was a 8.5". This means that my new rear was smaller in practically every way. including the U-Joint -.- I made two trips to Honest performance in an hour to get it right. Basicly, I got done at four, and the gates opened at three. I missed the cut-off for getting a tech card by like 15 mins it turns out. I didn't leave the night empty handed however I went out and had fun with my new posi I have some serious tire-hop untill I get traction bars, but, its a real burnout machine. Not to mention dounuts. This vid on youtube is from tonight. tell me what you think. Its not much in the vid, but it was fun.
