Got stomped this weekend
My car:
1997 camaro 3800 5spd (3.23 gears I believe), completely showroom stock.
Opponent:
1985 pontiac fiero 2.8 v6 4 spd (the 4.10 box), Legitimate CAI, opened up exhaust.
It was a close race, i need more experience launching, i was spinning for over a car length, just couldn't keep it hooked up with these ****ty tires. In the end he took me by a car length on both the good runs. I did have a passenger 100lbs more than his passenger and still had the spare tire and some other junk in the back.
He would take me out of the hole hard (rear engine rwd in fieros means they are tough to beat out of the hole anyways) but as soon as I grabbed second he stopped gaining, and he just held that lauch lead the whole 1/4. It will be tough but if I can get launched good enough to keep him under half a car length I might be able to reel him in next time.
On paper, with both cars stock, it should have been a drivers race, and it was.
Going to practice, get a CAI on to replace the horrifically restrictive stock intake, get some better exhaust, and try him again with no passengers.
Don't doubt the power of a healthy 2.8 thats all i can say.
