my buddy I work with has a 04 gto and want s to race my 01 trans am both auto who will win or is it a drivers race

How do you figure? An 04 GTO has the same LS1 as the T/A, but the GTO is heavier and has an IRS rear that soaks up more hp and is harder to hook up. And please don't quote the factory BS GM power ratings, i know what both cars are "rated" at. It will be a decent race but I gotta say the GTO's are not that fast, even the 05 6.0L car is not that fast. The best run I have ever made in a 6.0 GTO was a mid 13.

 

I go off what i see at the track. iv seen a stock GTO go 13.3 now as far as a trans am goes i haven't really seen one out there. But i didn't figure that the trans am would beat that. but i stand corrected thanks for the heads up.

 

You sure it was an 04 GTO? I can see a stock 05/06 GTO going 13.3 but not an 04.

 

I can't honestly say. It prolly was a 05/06. Im not a big GTO fan so i haven't paid close attention to them.

 

I've never been impressed with 2004 GTO's. Wonderful engine placed in a horible body. A 2001 T/A will have no problem pulling away from the 04 GTO.

 

It's very likely you saw an 05+ GTO running 13.30's. I've seen a couple 04's turn those kind of times, but they're few and far between...Besides, you know how people are when they say "Stock." They're probably full of crap.

...and yes, you shouldn't have a problem with a stock '04.
