Look guys, there are courses where one will be faster, and courses where the other will be faster, and drivers that will be faster in each, because they are fairly close. But there is no dishonor in a $75,000 car b eing a bit less than a $165,000 car. I've driven both, and been around both when they are pushed hard. I'd take the GT over the Z06 any day -- its a better assembled and slightly faster car all around, as it should be for the money.
But actually I'm not getting either. I'm buying a GT40 "continuation series" car from Superformance built up instead (a car made to the original GT40 design -- truly 40 inches high instead of 44 inches like the Ford GT and basically the same car that won LeMans originally. I will have onlya straight up hi-po 289 built for it, nothing more exotic, but hopefullywith four two-barrel Weber carbs (if I can even find such a set up any more).

I find it more ironic that people spend over $100,000 on some of the worlds best supercars and all they care about is how fast it accelarates in a strait line. I could make my lawn mower faster than that in a strait line, (hell yea its a briggs & stration) Lets see what it can do on a real track.

drag racing wasn't what these cars were meant for. they were meant for true racing, road racing! and Lee, you should go the route of the 66' MkII Sebering. 427 Ford BB, 575 hp and upwards of 190mph top speed.

 

Well yeah they weren't really meant for drag racing, but chances are, on the street that's all you're going to do. Real life isn't Need for Speed, haha.

 

Ive raced track style on the street before. Its not the safest thing to do, but we have this werid roads that are in the middle of no where. They have no turn on roads so we just put a car on both ends of the corse to make sure no cars come in.

 

i don't know about you, but i've actually been to an actual race circuit. Road America, they had an open track day. sure i had one of the slowest lap times of the day, but i was having fun. there was 14 riced out cars there, including a Honda Element, and all fell behind me

 

Well yeah, like I said, you're most likely going to just be going in a straight line on the streets, but there are exceptions. And not everyone has access to a local circuit. I know there aren't any in central Arkansas. The closest might be in Memphis. I'm not even sure if they have a road course there.

But yeah... I just wish I had a car that could go fast... in any direction...
