Actually, I kinda hate em. Problem is that I have 2 of them, so I know them pretty well. When one breaks, I know exactly what part to go buy just from the sound it's making at this point. When I need another car, I'll probably buy another one just because I have so many parts laying around for them.

About Camaros, I like em a lot. I don't particularly like how they look, but if I was all about how a car looks, I wouldn't have 2 neons. But they put good, powerful engines in them with lots of power to unlock without going overboard like I had to with the neon. Handling is a bit sluggish for my tastes, but I'm used to driving neons, so that's to be expected. (The neon was actually built to be the fastest autocross car in it's class. The first 200 or so were sold only to people with SCCA memberships and came stock with adjustable struts and no radio in the original ACR trim)

But thanks for the compliments. I wanted to reap the benefits of having a quick car, but I didn't want to pay 3X the price of the parts to do it, so I've spent years doing research about these cars. Unfortunately, it also means that all the 18 year old kids that want to make their car go Pshh track me down and pick my brain on AIM for hours at a time, but it's all good. You have to start somewhere, and if someone really wants to learn what they are doing, I don't mind helping.

why dont you put 200 shot of spray and the turbo. dude ull have a 8 second neon!
Wish I could, but with a FWD, you get to that kind of power level, and you just spin the tires all the way down the track. Weight shifting off the drive wheels, instead of onto them makes ridiculously fast times really hard in a FWD. Besides, the turbo I'm using is only good for around 375 whp. I'd need something like a GT42r to make enough airflow to make that much power, and then swap to an auto trans, seeing as it would take like 5 seconds between shifts to build boost back up.
I'll never get the car to that point. Just too much work for not enough gain in a neon. If I wanted to stay 4 cylinder, I'd do an EVO or STi or something, but most likely, I'd find an older car with tons of room under the hood and build a F/I V8. A Camaro comes to mind... heh

just lift up the rear about 4 inches, and put in really stiff shocks. that'll shift your weight pretty good. put a lot of your weight onto the front tires. i got 2 1/2" spring lifters on my car for clearance on my pipes, and if i try to pull out onto the road fast ill turn around and face oncoming traffic.

I wax my neon before I go cruising for chicks, just like you camaro guys grow out your mullets before picking up chicksSeriously though just because a guy drives a "neon" or SRT4 or whatever you want to call it, doesnt mean he doesnt like other cars, like, idunno.... camaros maybe. Would you laugh at me if I had a '69 GTX 440 4-spd? Hell, no... even though my car is faster in the 1/4 than a 69 GTX, and my car DEFINATELY tops out faster (172). But because its disguised as a fat college girl car, people have to rag on it because its not their style, or they have that ignorant "no replacement for displacement" redneck mentality. People like that are 100% ho-mo-sexual. Us guys on the SRTforums dont talk **** to the camaro/mustang guys that hang out on our forums. Thats right, some of your buddies might be turning gay or something righ now... going over to the SRTforums. Next thing you know theyll be shaving their chest hair and asking you to call them Lance....
BTW Im buying said GTX off of a friend when I get back to the states... kiss my grits.
Quit being so biased.

Sorry about the late post. I was ranting off of what some other people had said earlier in the thread, and havent figured how to post off of a quote yet[&o]D'oh. It is good to see that there are RWD guys that support, or at least dont laugh at the four banger guys. Good luck on the 11 sec neon. It is possible, my buddy from VA on the SRTforums has an 11 sec "neon" and uses no spray, just the turbo. His has ths Stage3R (like mine) and puts down over 400whp, so it is possible to do on a TD05, which is what the Stage3R is. Talk to Darrel *** Racing. They do a ported TD05 that is the shizznizzle. Other parts they have should boost you over the 400whp point. Granted your not going off the 2.4 are you? Cant remember if you said or not.

Nope, it's a 2.0. Much higher compression than the SRT, so it should be easier to make bigger power on a smaller turbo, but harder to keep detonation away. Ethanol helps though. Darrell *** does some really cool stuff for the SRTs, but when you're doing a project like mine that's completely open and not tied to specific engine computers or manifolds, there's much more to be found out there. Lots of other stuff works just as well, and there's some stuff that just can't be purchased. Have to machine it yourself.

Kid, we never were friends. I'll tolerate your presence because I'm here, but I don't like you.

whoa...[sm=rant.gif] gear down there big shifter. Don't stereotype all of us, I'd be willing to say that most of us can appriciate any fast car. I'm not a fan of neons, but that doesn't mean that I don't respect a fast one. Plus, there is no replacement for displacement, because if there was, the fastest accelerating cars in the world would be running a 2.0L 4 cyl motor, but they aren't, they're running 500+ ci V8's. There's also a reason that the fastest production car in the world is running a W16, remember, you can always boost something that has more than 4 cylinders as well. I'm not trying to flame you, just some food for thought.
