I know you don't understand how it works. It's OK. I do, and I'm the one building the car. 2450 lb car with this kind of power is fun any way you look at it.

There's a video of it at Byron earlier in the year running on the wastegate spring only, at 7psi. Now I have it making about 12psi depending on how the air is outside. I don't have any videos of the 13s I made a week ago at GLD. But you get the idea.

i live right next to lake geneva, care to run that turbo neon against my 03 cobra @ GLD sometime?
Sure! I'll probably be up there when they do the next Import Wars. I'm planning on borrowing some drag tires, so I'm hoping to see some times in the range of 13.2-13.3. Kinda leaves the mystery out of it, but it would be fun anyway.

You know, I really don't like Neons, and I think they're butt-ugly, but you have to give at least a little respect to a car running 13's, be it fwd, rwd, or awd.

Mad props to you man.

cool thread. seriously? i don't care too much for neons either, but getting a non-srt to do 13's is pretty damn good. i've raced my cousins neon, something like an 05 i think, from a stop and while i beat it, he keeps up with me pretty good on the interstate.

There's actually quite a few people doing a lot better than I am out of neons, but in 03, Dodge decided to change all kinds of stuff in how the engine is controlled. Makes it quite a bit more complex that just throwing big injectors and a rising rate fuel pressure regulator at it. A good friend of mine locally is making low 9s out of his. But for an 03+, mine's the fastest in the world from what I've been able to find. I've been digging quite a bit too. I can't find anyone else that's conned a 13 out of one.
As far as the dyno sheet, the peak torque looks good and all that, but the stock cylinder head is so restrictive that I just can't get any boost into it at high RPM. I'm going to try a cam in the next few weeks to see if it opens it up, but you can see that by 7k, I'm only making like 130 ft/lb. If I can flatten out the torque line, the car will be happy to make 12s with some traction. (2.2 60' times are all I've been able to get out of it with street tires and the open differential.)

haha... Wish I could. The stock rods would just fold up if I put any more boost into it or spray. Give me until next spring, and I'll be trying for 11s, so it might be a little more fun. I picked up a brand new, never been run short block, and I've got everything I need to run 3 BAR of boost through it with the exception of pistons. Of course, that also means I need some 1000cc injectors and a clutch that can endure more punishment, but I'm only about $1200 in parts from the 11s. Does that put it in the range of the Cobra?
