just wanting to know if anyone with anLT1 has raced the new mustang?

 

yes i race an 07 mustang gt. from a roll 45mph. he got the jump on me because he had a manual. we both shut down around 90-95mph at a light. then we went from the light til about 70mph we were side by side i shut down because the two lane were turning into one. anyway i drive a 93 z28 camaro. my mods are shift kit, 2200, stall converter, cai, hooker aero chamber muffler, and msd blaster coil. i didnt have the msd blaster coil on my car when i race the gt i just added. do you have any mods to your car.

 

It'll be a close race stock to stock, the stang is a heavier car, and the power dont come on till later in the R.P.M range. So from a dig you should take him. I beat them in my GTP, ( not stock ). And I have lost to a few camaro's. the 0-60 times are alomst identical for the 2. 93 -97 Z28 were rated at 5.4 factory. the new mustang is rated at 5.56... so you SHOULD be able to take him...itll basicly come down to who is the better driver.

Considering its a 12 or so years newer car, thats not very impressive...

 

i agree, but its still the way it is. all things being equal, if the GT driver knows anything about what hes doing he should be able to walk on a roll, and it would be even worse from a dig. that 3link suspension is pretty freakin impressive and very forgiving. ive seen guys pull 1.8 60' times on street tires.

 

There a slower car to 60 MPH though... its the top end that they take them... and not by much either... Put on some decent tires on the Camaro, and just an exhaust kit, and the stang ( stock ) will NEVER touch the camaro...

 

slower according to those numbers, id bet a GT will do well better than 5.5 to 60. i thought it was 5.2 or so from what i had read.

 

Nope, Car and driver, and Motor trend both say 5.56 second to 60 with the 5sp...
