'93 Z/28 vs '01 Jetta Sedan
strip, way to read the post
take off the front sway bar, pull as much weight as you can out of the car, passenger seat, spare tire/jack, rear seats etc etc, 1/4 tank of fuel, take out your air filter (once you get to the track), put 40psi in the front tires and remember, leave on the 3rd yellow, if you see the green light you already lost
And let me know when you go, I want to come up and check it out, we'll see how racing goes the day of. With 2.73 gears, you might be ok with a set of drag radials on that thing, I'll throw them in my truck anyways
So you guys got any advice on some little things I can do make the car run a little better when she gets to the track? I'm gonna be doing new gear oil in the rear this weekend because I know it's well over do. Trying to find a way to remove the rest of the a/c stuff without removing the engine.

<3 you balty
I seen that yes, but he was also talking about roadracing and handling of his camaro so i thought he wanted to do his camaro for all around purpose. Fast in the 1/4 and still ride with good handling. Thats where I was confused.
BTW, I cannot read your enlarged text. Its too small....

I was thinking of swapping my gears for 3.42 or 3.73s to help with acceleration..but that depends on my paychecks. Ha.
I'll let you know Cheeks. Still getting on the fine details figured out (like if they have specific days for racing or if there open everyday). Also, working on a date that works for every one so we can get off work
Well Balt, you're sorta right. I want something that's fast in 1/4 mile, but I wanna be able to take turns nicely too. But for now I'm focusing on the straight lines.
I might also add that two other friends will be bringing their cars to racing. One is 2000ish Ford Escort ZX2 S/R that I've run against once all ready and won. My other friend just sold his truck and bought another 3000GT that he may run against us...or might fix up and sell for a VR4. If he does the latter, he's gonna be my real competition.
Sweet. So I'm all ready in the right direction as far as pulling weight goes. Spare is getting pulled this weekend when I'm home and I'm gonna look over the car and find anything I don't need and pull it. I know there's some stuff under the carpet in the back I can pull. Gonna try pulling the rest of the a/c too since I don't have the condenser or compressor in it any ways.

Pulling teh front swaybar will also help with weight but more importantly will help with weight transfer on launch, I'd probably put it back on if you plan to drive on the street a lot with your car, in my case I have a double adjustable shock in the front so I just stiffen them all the way up and it helps
Gears will certainly wake the car up as will a converter, either or will make a VAST improvement over the stock pieces. Pulling the air filter will help because you take the restriction out of the car sucking air in, I've seen it help a decent amount, in fact I ran my fastest time ever without an air filter!!
Like I said, let me know when you head up there, your best option is a test and tune nite to get some races setup which are generally on thursday nites, if my car is up and running, I'll bring it out with me after work and we'll get a good ol' fashioned camaroforums grudge race on!! I'll get you beating that vr4 if he gets it, don't worry
I wanna try keeping it as stock looking as possible. The carpet I have in it now is lighter than what I originally took out, so I know I saved some weight there. The a/c evaporator is major piece wanna work on getting out, while retaining heat. I've been debating on whether to remove the bumper supports or not and maybe fabbing up something to replace them that's lighter but still as strong. My sub will be coming out of the back the day of for sure.
The front sway will defiantly have to go back on after racing. Just for the simple fact that right now I drive home from school every other weekend and I take the twistys fast.
Hmm...maybe I'll work on getting both for the car. Trying to save up some money so I can get my car on the right track (no pun intended) to where I want it. I do know I'm going to need the computer tuned. For some reason, I can't get above 110 for some reason, yet I've gone as fast as 122 before. I'm wondering if the SES light (code 36) might effect that.
I was going to ask about the air filter. I always thought it was bad to run an engine without a air filter? I guess maybe that wouldn't hold here because you're not running it for an extended amount of time?
All right. That sounds good. I'm not too worried about a VR4. Every race I've seen it's always been neck and neck with each car winning. But that was stock for stock. My car isn't stock and if he gets one, he'll be spending all his money just to buy it.
Races on Thursday night? I would have figured Friday or Saturday! Haha. But that's cool too.
