You are not going to beleive this, but ran into the 84 corvette at a gas station this morning.
He saw me and smiled with a sarcastic grin, I said ; what do you have then?
Here is the cars specs!
It's a standard 84 with the Z51 performance package from factory, nothing added or modded, same componants.
The crossfire intake was gone, and it had an edelbrock performer manifold and intake.
The engine was 350 standard with 4 bolt main, forged pistons rated at 300HP just been built about 3000miles ago,so nothing too outragous.
Is 300HP a lot in a plastic car?

 

Your car is rated at 275 HP (it actually makes a little more)and it's mostly plastic, so you tell us...I'll tell you again, just because you have a lot of power that doesn't mean too much in the corners if you can't successfully put it to the ground.

 

300 sounds quite quick then, with lots of rubber on the ground, he said he had BF goodrich sport tires if i remember, said they were quite cheap, nothing like a pirrelli.

 

You really need to drive a Vette to feel what you're up against. 300 isn't a ton of power, but even if the Vette had less h.p. than your car, it'll still pull you in the turns. When the "new" Vette came out in '84, it was light years ahead of what the old ones were like, and they've only gotten better over the years. By comparison, the existing Camaros are still an "old-school", solid rear axle car, with the limitations that come with it. Careful though, if you drive a Vette, you just may want to buy one!!

 

never was a 83 model year
corvettes are fiber glass. doesnt matter what the body is made of, its weather the frame can handel it, and they can hold plenty. my brothers C4 is making 500 at the wheels with no issues

the vette owner said hes never been beaten by a camaro ??? Most vette owners are complete jerks, although there is a few "cool ones". I beat a 84 vette with my tpi 305. those motors are slow as hell. the cross fire injection is complete junk. you need to learn your car better, or just learn how to drive. but how do you know it was an 84?
