About half way down under the pic of the interior, they mention past tests. The article is about an auto convertible fully loaded SS which would be one of the slowest combos avalible (due to weight and trans). Granted cars tend to run a bit better at Atco NJ, but givin that one test was done in high 90's temp, the elevation of the track is cancled out. Is it the norm for an LS1 to run in the 12's? No, but it has been done more than a few times.

 

Im sorry to burst your bubble man but that car , theres no way that ran a 13.46 even with evan smith driving it stock. Most ls1 run that time with the average driver. But if you can run a stock 97 lt1 and get a 13.46 i should have no problem getting a mid to high 12 with my 2001 ls1. Th best time a lt1 could get with a six-speed im betting is 13.9x that in perfect conditions with a pro driver. but that car you pointed out had 310 hp. Thats not stock. Stock they come with 280hp with 325ft trq. My car comes 325hp and 350ft torque. those cars areaboutsecond apart. Lt1 with average driver 14.3 or 14.4 and ls1 with aaverage driver is 13.2 to 13.5.

 

310 is stock for the SS model. 280 is Z28.

 

Ok, but remember that these are number at the fly wheel and not at the rear wheels, LS1's have been known to put 300+ hp to the wheels bone stock. It's a well known fact that LS1's were very under-rated from the factory.

 

Those older ones actually make more hp than i thought once i looked it up. Ok you know what it makes at the flywheel but is there a way to figure out what it makes at the rear wheel with out a dyno if the car is stock? For these ss models older and newer ones?
