Default 1993 z28 vs 2007 mustang gt

well on my way home today after work. im driving along an notice a 2007 mustang gt pull out from this gas station into traffic. so he speeds up an gets behind. im thinking if there was no traffic around i would try to run with him. so there was like three cars ahead of us he cuts to the left lane to get thru the three cars. up ahead there was nothing but a clear shot. so i decided to switch lane an catch up with him. anyway i pull up besides him doing an honk my horn to get his attention. he roll his window an i ask him if he wanted to run with me. he agreed so the first race we started out at 45mph. honk 3 times he gets the first jump being that he had a stick shift i quickly gain on him then he jump on me again about a car length thenwe shut down at 95mphbecause of the light. so were at the light so im you want to run from the light heagreed. so the light turn grren an we both hit both carstires burning. this time we stayed even until i back off at 60mph becaue the two lane road was becoming a one lane road. i was going to chance that for a win. anyway felt pretty good that my car held up preety good against that gt. i didnt get a chance too talk to the guy but he seemed preety cool he gave a wave after he turn off. i need to upgrade my gears. i have 2.73 what would be a good set of gears to get.

My car 1993 z28 camaro ( mods are cai, 2200 stall converter, shift kit, and hooker aero chamber muffler)

3.23 or a 3.73 would be great for you... still retain some MPG on the highway, and some ripping acceleration off the line...

I thought that it was just not possible for an LT1 to be able to run with a new GT?!?! I remember getting into a huge discussion about how the LT1 beat the driver not the car and bla bla bla. Yes it was a Ford guy argueing this but since this happened again it can't be another coincidence?!?

I went to Indianapolis to race this weekend and I was talking to a guy there that was driving an 07 Mustang GT.I asked him what his best time was and he told me 14.1 (All stock). After talking to him I made my first pass ever with the car and ran 13.85 @100.61 (You can see my mods below). Now I know I'm not all stock like he was, but I would have to say stock for stock an LT1 should be able to hang right next to a new GT.
