New old project-1946 Austin gasser
Thanks! Must have made a difference; two shows and two trophies this weekend!
How's this backdrop for a photo? Restored old gas station in a small town near me:

That's a nice restored old '49 Chevy PU in the background!

This coming Sunday will be the Austin's strip debut. Gotta go through everything and get it as close to ready as possible. We're having the Billetproof drags Sunday. All pre '64 cars, and some pretty cool old race cars come out of the barns to run this annual event.
Hope I don't embarass myself! Haven't made a pass down the strip since I quit racing the Camaro in 1989!

Just got home from the Billetproof Hotrod eruption Drags! Can't remember when I've had so much fun! My reaction times could be measured with a calendar, and I need lot more rust off to make decent launches, but it was still fun!
I started out running in the high 9's for the 1/8th, and gradually figured out how much to heat the tires, plus how much throttle to apply at launch, and eventually got it to run in the 8.60's. I think it could make it into the 7's if I wanted to do a lot more tuning and track time, but I doubt I'll do more than this once a year race in the future.
My first race was against friend in his 50 Chevy with 454 and tunnel ram. He got me bad out of the hole, but I ran him down right at the lights. I also got staged against a front engine dragster with twin SBC power, and expected to really get spanked, but he smoked the tires badly, and to my surprise he just caught me at the end of the 1/8 mile!
My biggest problem was me. I was having so much fun, and so much adrenaline pumping that I couldn't begin to concentrate on a game plan. I thought my buddy was taking video, as I gave him my wife's camera, but he only took still shots! I hope Jeff got some video from his Go Pro, as I'd like to see what the runs looked like.
Here's a couple that Mike took:

I'll post the video if I can get it.
