Default nitrous on 86 tpi?

i was thinking of getting one of the plate style NOS systems for my car some time down the road. now ive heard its only truly safe to run nitrous on forged pistons. how damagin would it be to run on stock internals? by the time i would invest in it, i will have already had intake runners, cam, full exhaust, and probably heads or at least a valve train upgrade. im not certain on my finances of the future since ill be starting college, and i will have two other vehicles to maintain (geo for daily, motorcycle as other daily)

It should be safe to run a 50shot maybe 75...not sure how good those fuel pumps are on your car

how can i find out? the biggest concern would be my injectors, and if i should upgrade from the 19lb to the 21lb injectors. im thinking of doing it anyway because i have a feeling mine might be clogged to an extent, or otherwise not performing

I'd be a bit careful. If it were me, I'd consider the fact that with an older stock motor, and perhaps a bit too much enthusiasm, I'm farily certain to blow the motor eventually. You can get much more than 50+ Hp in this car by dropping in a fairly inexpensive crate motor with more displacement, etc. I'd save my money for that.

oh yea...didn't realize you had a 86...

I'm not using power adders on my 96 because it's to old and has to much mileage (120K)...

for your car, a 350 swap would be ideal and the parts for sbc's are dirt cheap

my car only has 30k miles. it has that classic oil burnoff when i start it, but thats it, other than a few tiny oil leaks on the pan. i do plan on getting a 383 sometime in the distant future, but i want to get my other car street legal again, and i also want to get a motorcycle this fall

Just save up for the 383 or 350 whatever you do...

then put nitrous on that

Fix the oil leaks and save up. If your engine is in good shape and your fuel pump is in good running order you should be able to support a 75 with no problem. However if you think it’s had better days then I would not chance it. Spray is not a bad thing but if your engine is already having issues then you’re just asking it to go boom. Also a dry or a wet kit is the easy way to go on a TPI if its TBI then you have to run a top shot or direct port into the manifold or injectors,
