Default martin turbo

just picked up a martin turbo for my 81z. its just a mild street car i have some fun in. what kind of performance can i expect from this. do i need a blow-through carb for this setup? thanks

Do you have some more specs on the turbo?? Intercooler?? Etc?

Looks like a 14b turbo, its off 5 spd 1g turbo dsms.Can you also get a pic of the compressor wheel.

a 14b is just plain too small for a v8. Expect more power right out of the hole, and that's it. It will choke and fall on it's face from probably 3000RPM on up. I don't know about you, but when I ask my car for power, it's usually above 3000RPM. If you want some performance out of a turbo V8, you need a turbo that flows a considerable amount better than the engine flows in stock form. Look at a T04E 50-trim for something cheap, or a big precision or borg warner to make some serious power.

A pair of 14bs wouldn't be that bad though, as you're asking each one for half the flow. Then you're in a whole different ball game.
