kbb puts the lt1 at 10.4:1. but they use manufacturer rated specs, which we all know arent accurate. but this leads me to believe that the lt1 is as high as the ls1, which means it isnt FI friendly. go with something not forced unless u drop compression like nitrous or a big cam (or hell, go crazy and do both!)

run a 300 shot of nitrous and blow a piston ring. that will drop your compression
but seriously, it takes internal work to do that. easiest (thats a relative term cuz it still isnt easy) way is to swap out the pistonsor get different heads. I do not know what is available to you, but thats the route to go.

7.5-8.5 is ideal, an in order to lower compression, you can put on heads with huge combustion chambers an put thick head gaskets on, or swap pistons which would prolly require you hiring someone else unless you have experience taking motors apart

so, really, geting a turbo is a lot of work.
based on the good info you have provided me with it sounds like what i should do is hold off on it untill i have more money. i should just buy and LS1 becasue my LT1 leaks oil and has almost 100k miles( i take care of it but thats still a lot) and turbo charge my LS1

depends on the method. the head gasket is going to be the cheapest, but IMO not the best way. if i was going to do it right id do it with forged pistons and id forge the bottom end while i was at it. then u dont need the biggest chambered heads, but u can then go for the best flowing heads. this will allow for higher power with lower psi through the turbo, which makes everything run smoother, less wear and tear.
