basic turbo questions
i have some questions about turbos:
are they really worth instaling?
how much can i expect to pay for one?
is puting a turbo on a day to day car a bad idea?
is it easy to install your self or would it be better for a pro do it?
is it going to kill my mpg?
yeah, i kno they probly get asked a lot sorry.

RE: basic turbo questions
1. thats a matter of opinion
2. ranges from 400 dollar ebay kits to 10K TT setups
3. if you dont floor it every chance you get you should be alright
4. i wouldnt know, never done a turbo install. I would imagine a pro would be best but DIY is possible depending on your knowledge.

RE: basic turbo questions
Turbos will hurt mileage SLIGHTLY, but not bad overall, they are worth it if you go with the right setup, a good setup that will build good power is around 2500 for a small block, unless you are really good at working on cars, get a pro to do it, it requires bending pipng on a machine, and once it is installed, it and the car have to be tuned

RE: basic turbo questions
the more power u are making the more gas you will consume. period.
as for drivability, its probably one of the better power adders for that. if you do a full NA car with a big cam and heads ported wide open you will have problems driving it. a stock car with a turbo will act like a stock car at idling throttle for the most part. it needs throttle to get scary, and that is all on u

9:1 is standard alot of places. the ls1 is 10:1, but we have higher compression than standard. I wanna say the lt1 is 9.5:1, but im too lazy to actually look it up and my source isnt exactly credible... kbb says the ls1 camaros are 10:1 and the ls1 TA's are 10.5:1. i think thats bs, so like i said my source isnt credible
