Should I buy 1994 Camaro???
Hey all. Found a 94 Camaro (3.4 v6) 158,000 not running. Owner says fuel injectors need to be cleaned. He already replaced fuel pump, fuel filter, and CPS. Told me "motor turns over freely, has compression, but it had sat for over 2 years it would barely crank but idle really low and not respond to giving it throttle." Not so sure it's injectors.
I have also read that the 3.4's have had intake manifold problems, too.
I want a mid to late 90's Camaro and don't want to jump on this one thinking I can clean injectors and have a reliable engine and then injectors not be problem. I am basically shade tree mechanic (my 96 Cherokee keeps me busy...lol. Headlight switch went out 4 days ago and now power locks started just clicking but not unlocking this morning! Ha!) I enjoy working on cars and have basic knowledge and my tool collection is growing, but don't want to get too deep into an engine if it's more than injectors.
My question is, does his explanation, his repairs and his telling me that cleaning the fuel injectors make sense and will get this car running? Thanks guys.

mabey depends on how much he wants there are many good 3,8l out there priced cheap craigs list ,.personaly I would not want someones problems but. if its a $500,00 car that's fine ,I got my 3800 for 2k with 87.000 miles few thing to fix but the engine an cooling system were strong an still are the 3.4l are getting hard to find parts for but if it just needs a bit could run another 100.000 ,your better off the find 3.8l ., yes you would not want to get into it anymore then that .the 3.8l there are a ton of good stuff for them out there an I would say if I can get them cleaned an it runs good then .make a deal with the car after its .checked for leaks an so on ,I would move on if its not a real cheap price

Thanks for advice. Car is $800(nego) and have a 20mile tow(hopefully on friends trailer). The body looks clean and interior semi-clean in the pic I have, one reason I may be interested. Love the body style. I believed him until he said injectors would probably solve problem. Skeptical about that. I also didn't know much about the 3.4 until I researched it and now I'm not so sure I even want to mess with one.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.
tell him I will come clean them or take them an have them cleaned ,then install them you both take a ride in the car it runs good $500.00 you will take it off his hands ,otherwise just move on theres others out there an the 3.8 is just a lot more parts available but don't just buy it an take it home couse you may just end up w ith a parts car check for leaks too, there .are 3.8 car out there too for around that price ? where you live matters if its up north there price comes down soon in the middle of summer,if its been siting outside that not good either, post some pictures of engine an body ,it may be a desent $500,00 an mabey not.if you cant clean up the injectors an take it to an .inspection station of his an the guy would tell you what else the car needs then you probley don't want it

Thanks again. After researching it some more and talking to a few other people, I think I am gonna pass on this and search for a 3.8 Everyone has said same thing you do about 3.8's being better and more plentiful and parts more available.
Thanks again for advice. BTW, your Camaro is beautiful. That burgundy is the perfect color.
