Default Rear end

Hi,
I acquired A 68 CAMARO 10 bolt rear end. I plan to put 450+ HP. People say put a 12 volt in with 373 gear. Hooray, but new and used ones go for 2 thousand 5 hundred dollars. Some say go with a nine inch ford rear end. Hoe could I get either of the 2 with 373 gears at a much better price? I have not checked prices on the ford nine inch rear end. Any suggestions? I have search every where in NYS on Craigs list.

Thanks
Jimmy

Local swap meets, craigslist,eBay keep looking around.
A 9" Ford set up for your Camaro won't be cheap unless you get lucky in the used market.
1968-1972 Novas have the same rear end as a 1st gen Camaro so include that in your search.
Are you running an automatic or stick shift? You could probably get by with the 10 bolt for a while with some upgraded axles etc if you have an automatic.

You could look at a 8.5 ten bolt out of 73-4 Nova I have a 1979 Z-28 with 377 cubic inch supercharged 500 HP small block chevy ,With a Super T-10 4 speed . I added a Moroso "Brute Strength " posi .30 spline Mosier axles ,And Chevrolet 3:42 gears with no issues.

You could run the 10-bolt, as I have done with a 11.90 sec/115 mph qtr-mile '68.
Eventually, the torque literally sheared off the ring gear bolts from the carrier.
Good luck in your search.
