Question about '94 Camaros. Please help.
I am a noob when it comes to Camaros, but I've always liked them. I'm thinking about buying a '94 Z28, and have a couple questions:
The one I'm looking at has t-tops, a 6-speed manual, and the 5.7l. The guy says it's really rare, but I don't know the difference, and I'm skeptical. Is there a rare '94 Z28, and if so, how can I tell if this is it?
I can say it runs like a bat out of hell...

It all comes down to the price hes asking IMO. Look on Craigslist and Autotrader and see what theyre going for in your area. Im no expert by far, but a 1994 Z28, isnt exactly rare in my area. I have a 94 Z28, with hardtop and automatic that I traded an old truck for. Since I got it, Ive seen tons of early 4th gens for sale around here. Post some pics if you have some, so everyone here can see the condition of the paint, interior, etc, and youll get some better answers as to what its worth.
Did he try telling you why it's rare?
Because from everything I know about Camaros, a '94 isn't going to be rare, and is one of the less desirable ('95 being even less). The SS option didn't appear till '96 and even those don't go for much unless they're perfect condition, low miles cars. The only "rare" one's were the '97 SS's that came with the LT4 instead of LT1.
Long story short, he's BSing you to get more money. Post some pics if you can and we'll give you a best estimate of what you should buy it at. Don't forget to get the mileage too.

Thanks. I'll try to get some pics up. He was saying it was rare because of the combination of the "Corvette engine", 6-speed manual, and t-tops I guess. It has 90k miles, and the paint isn't horrible, but there are a couple spots that need work.
Thanks again for your response.

The seller must be referring to the 6 speed option being rare.
Out of a total 40,940 Z28's built, 8,742 of them got a 6 speed, which is 21%.
21% isn't "rare", but it means about one 6 speed Z28 to every four automatics out there.
And be sure to straighten him out, it's NOT a Corvette engine unless it's a transplant....that he can document.

For comparison, my 94 Z28, M6, T-top car with 182k on the clock ran me 3 grand. When I was looking for mine, I also saw a few listed on craigslist with the "corvette engine package" in the description...I just laughed. There is no such thing, except on a vette. 90k is low mileage for that model. I would jump on it if the price is right. How much is he asking?
