Default Possible New Camaro Owner

Hi, I'll start by introducing myself. My name is Antony and I'm a 20 years old college student, majoring in mechanical engineering. I'm from Youngstown, Ohio and I've just recently gained interest in the third gen camaro. So, I've decided to come check out the camaro forums in search for some advice.

I've been driving the same car for the past 4.5 years, a little 1.8L mitsubishi eclipse. I'm looking for something with a little more power, well A LOT more power. lol

I have been eyeing the 3rd gen camaros for some time now, even though I like the 4th gen camaros, I don't think my budget will allows me to buy a decent one.

I don't really have a lot of knowledge about camaros or any domestic car to be honest. It seems like there's a lot of mixed/confused information based on what I've read on other sites. So, I come with a few questions.

Which camaro would be best for me?
I have a budget of ~$3000. I want it to be a 5 speed.

Should I expect a huge increase in insurance?
I pay around $100 a month now, clean driving record.

Thanks in advance.

keep your eye out i've seen 93-97 z28's with the 6 speed for 2500 before and they were in decent shape.

Welcome to the forum. If you are looking for a V6 model you can find a good Forth Gen for 3000 if you are looking at a V8 camaro your best bet is a Third Gen that is my opinion. Good luck in you search.

Hey, all thanks for the welcomes.

After doing a bit of research, I think i might be go with the 3.8L 4th gen. My insurance quote was almost $200/month for the z28.

I was lurking around the fourth gen v6 tech and found this thread. I found the possibility of supercharging the 3.8 using a custom bracketing system for a BD11A powerdyne headunit. Can anyone shed some light to my question in that thread?

Also, would supercharging the 3.8 be worth it? I want it to be a daily driver with just a little boost if I need it.

To bad you don't live in idaho i looked at a 98 with the 3.8 with very minor issues no tears in the interior and a little scratch on the front bumper no dents with 138k for 2195.00 and it was running good
