New user looking for some advice before buying 1967 Camaro
Thanks for taking the time to read this as I am a new user to this site and have not owned a 1st generation in over 20 years. Now that I have the money to acutally complete a project, I feel it is about time to dive into owning another. I am hoping someone could shed some light as to the value of a local 1967 Camara (Base) that seems like a good deal but would like the opinion of others more experienced as to what I should pay.
1967 Camaro (Base), All original #'s matching, will be buying from original owner. 327, Auto (Column shift Powerglide), Non-AC. Interior is completely shot, Bumpers totally straight no dings but need rechroming. Rust everywhere on the bottom of entire car mainly in the both rear quarters. SIde pillars trunk and frame appear solid. A couple baseball holes in the floorboards. Originally had ragtop that owner took off and used bondo for lots of areas of the roof. Bottom of doors rusted out. All window seams completely rusted out but glass still intact and fine. Doors, trunk, hood all open and shut almost perfectly despite the rust. Owner states the engine was rebuild about 11 years ago and the car does run, shift and drive right now. Tires good with original base camaro wheels and hubcaps (not Rallys). All electrical works with the exception of the fuel gauge. Fuel tank was just replaced a year ago.
The gentleman originally wanted $5900 and I have talked him down to $4000. Does this seem like a fair deal at the $4000 or should I run because of the rust?
Thanks and any input whatsoever would be greatful. Really eager to get another at an affordable price. I am versed in doing engine, upholstery and some light body work. I know its hard without pictures but hopefully someone can ballpark the value just by the description.

First off, welcome to the forum. I would say that with the market the way it is today and the fact that it's a numbers matching car, the $K is a pretty good deal. But it sounds as if there's a ton of rust and without pictures it's hard to say for sure. I think that if you're looking to build a car the way you want it to be then you should not mess with a numbers matching car or you're just loosing money and ruining a classic IMO.
