In 1969, after my freshman year of college, I bought a Granada Gold, 1967 RS/SS 350, black vinyl top, 4 speed, for $1850. My first car!
Two years later, a drunk slammed into the rear (while parked) and pushed into into a phone pole. Pretty much a mess. Traded it for a new 1970 VW.
I've looked for a similar car foe a few years but never found the right car. Finally, in January, I found a 1967 Granada Gold, 4 speed, except a 396 instead of a 350. ( no problem there). I emailed the owner, didn't hear back and finally called him. The car had just been loaded onto a carrier to go to the Russo and Steele auction in Scottsdale. Apparently he had it on Autotrader for a couple years but i never came across it. The owner had purchased it at Barrett Jackson in 2002 after it had undergone restoration and was garage kept and driven occasionally while he owned it. My brother lives near Scottsdale and checked out the car before the auction and said it looked good.
So I sign up as a bidder for the auction and bought it at 11:30 pm on a Friday night. Waiting for the car to be delivered by Reliable over the next couple weeks.
It will be great to see the car I drove 48 years ago.
