Hey all. I just found me a 1978 camaro z28. it is an abandoned vehicle, so the auction is next week. hopefully i'll get it. it is in pretty good condition, paint is not bad at all, interior is shot, but they did install some nice racing seats, also installed a B & M shifter, and it has t tops. from what i can tell, the engine is very nice, aluminum heads, headers, nice exhaust, holley carb. don't know if it runs, but it has only been sitting for about 4 months. my only concern is replacing the ignition, since it has no keys. i'm fairly knowledgeable when it comes to chevy, as i used to have a 74' Nova that i replaced the motor and did all the body work on. but i wouldn't call myself an expert by any means, more of a shade tree mechanic. has anybody replaced an ignition before. i'll let you guys know if i get it next week. i appreciate any help you guys could give.

Welcome to the forum, hope all goes well with the auction. Is it a county or state auction? It shouldn't be much more than replacing the key tumbler and hooking up the 2 wires to that. I could be wrong there, someone will correct me if I am.

well, i didn't get the camaro. it went for $2600. but i've been looking around, and found an 86 iroc for $1200. I might get it. i also talked to my dad and he's going to try to get my 74 Nova back from my uncle. we sold it to him when i was in basic, and he was going to turn it into a drag car, but he hasn't really done anything to it, so we'll see.
