Default "New" guy from South Carolina - sort of

Just joined the forum but have owned our 1999 Camaro SS convertible since new. I ordered it from our then home town dealer, Thorstad Chevrolet, Madison Wisconsin. As of now it has something like 23,000 miles on the odometer. While it "lived" in Wisconsin for 14 years, it was never driven in the winter, it has always enjoyed inside storage, getting put away for 6 months each winter. To date there are only three things on it that did not come with it on delivery day, the tires (changed at 10 years just due to age), the battery - the original died at 9 years, and the shift lever and **** (although I still have the originals). I refused to drill holes in the grill to mount the required, by Wisconsin law, front license plate but luckily never had a problem.

We retired in 2012 and now live full time in our RV. We own RV lots in South Carolina and Florida, spending up to 6 months each year at either, so summer of 2012 I drove the Camaro down to South Carolina where it now spends most of it's time in a local storage facility (unfortunately I have no garage). I should sell it, should have sold it before I left Wisconsin, but just have not to date been able to bring myself to pull the trigger. I've advertised it a few times but haven't ever hooked anyone serious.

We love taking day trips up into the Smokey Mountains or to Lake Lure North Carolina with it. Seems every time I think I should try to sell it again one long top down ride keeps me from following through. I suspect others here can relate.

That's about all for now other than - get out and ride!

Welcome, Jay - nice trip and ride.
I use my '02 SS for a daily driver maybe twice a week.
Rita has 15,000+ miles on her.
Third owner I am.
