Default New guy from Florida looking for advice

Hey guys,
Im obviously a new guy to the forum but I am also unfortunately new to the word of four wheels. Ive always been into Harleys and custom big bore twins but my wife has finally convinced me to get away from it for fear of becoming a skid mark. That being said, my father in law has offered to sell me his 69 ss for a song and a dance. I am seriously considering buying the car but I know nothing about anything with four wheels so you can understand the slight fear.

Default Update

Looking at my post I realize that it is about as clear as mud. Specifically I am looking for modification advice. The car is currently set up with a 400 small block built by eagle racing producing 400 hp at the crank linked up to a turbo 350. The car was built up to the purpose of street stock drag racing and did very well at it but just isnt reliable as a fun weekend driver. What would be the best set up to make the car more fun to drive on the weekends sans breakdowns every other hour?

In my estimation, your 400 small block (400 hp) shouldn't be too much engine for a weekend fun car. You mention breakdowns every other hour. What is it that makes the car unreliable? Maybe photos and a better description of the car would paint a better overall picture.
