new from DFW(rockwall) texas
hey guys, a friend from another forum told me about this site, and i like it so i though id join! dont have a camaro yet, should by this week though. im 18, and going to college next year for automotive restoration/customization. slowly building up my arsenal of tools. my car has never been in the shop, i install or make everything i put on it myself. im also on ricekiller.com and dodgetalk.com. yes, my car right now is a dodge. its a red 2002 ram 1500 quad cab with a 5.9L, intake, superchips, exhaust,3" body lift, front and rear ranch hand bumpers with offroad lights on both, 2 10" subs, mb motoring wheels, billet grill, nerf bars, and tonneau cover. some more im forgetting. its in the process of getting a 9" suspension lift im piecing together, and it will be powdercoated red and black, with 37" tires, 4.56 gears, and black pocket style fender flares.
for the camaro story:
i was up in richardson at sonic after hockey, and while eating i decided to check craigslist. i thought "itd be cool if something was in richardson while im over here" so i opened up craigslist on my phone, and the first car to show up was amazing.
its an 89 camaro rs, v6 auto. black. it runs, but needs timing adjusted. the guy wants $500, and since he planned to restore it, has a bunch of parts hes throwing in such as 2 new fenders, 3 hoods, 6 matching wheels, leather seats, rear hatch, etc. basically, he has everything minus the frame, engine, trans, and suspension.
im 99% set on this one, i looked at it today and its in really great shape. plus im getting basically all the parts i would have to buy to fix it up, free
now, my question is, how hard is a manual swap? what do i do about the clutch? do i cut a hole for it, or is it already there?
and should i add mods to the v6 that runs, or do the 350 carb setup i was thinking about for the other camaro?
anyways, glad to be aboard! im sure ill be asking bunch of questions as im new to chevy engines

hey welcome to the forum man, if you take a look in the 3rd gen tech section im sure you can find all the help you need for restoring that camaro, everyones helped me quite a bit so far(not done yet though ^_^). $500 is a good deal for all that, nice find. Don't worry about the "asking alot of questions" everyones very friendly and willing to answer questions
thanks guys. so, i was talking to the girl i took to homecoming, and her dad is selling a 98 ls1 6 speed z-28 with a B4C package, great body, dual exhaust, cutout, and intake, and a sub and aftermarket pioneer headunit. it needs some interior minor work done like broken cupholders and such, but nothing terrible. it has an engine know, but runs. the engine will need rebuilt. he settled with me on $2850. is this a good deal?
i also found a ls6 with 40,000 miles on it. its a 2002. has with it 1 3/4 TPIS longtube ceramic coated headers with TPIS ported throttle body. the guy is asking $4,000. seems like a good deal? im tempted to get that
what do you guys think? id rather have the 98. would an ls6 fit in it? better power out of it? thanks! ill post this up in the tech section as well
