New convertible owner
Hi all,
Just bought a 1995 convertible with 31,200 original miles. A few minor things to address but overall pretty good shape. $4200 out the door. Rides nice and top is in good shape. Needs a new radio(current radio draining battery), oil level sensor has seepage on oil pan, oil pan gasket needs replacing. Has brand new tires, muffler, battery and a pwr window motor. As a new Camaro AND a first time convertible owner what should I expect from my '95? Hope to get at least 3 years out of it. Looking forward to using this forum for guidance. One more thing. Where can I get a good maintenance manual?

Wecome,
Your operaters manual is a very good guide. Do you all have the maintenance history?
Check your coolant, if you see anything other then nice clean coolant get it flushed. On a low miles car like that I would be temped to switch it over you all synthedic fluids.
If its an orginal top and its been garaged for the last 15 years it will most likey need replace in the next two years "IF" you start using it as a daily drive parted outside. This also depends on the color. Older Black top with shrink pretty quick once the sit if the sun a lot. Make sure you only wash it with "Car wash soap" never detergents like dish washing soap. It is to hard on the top. A good car cover will extend the life of your top. Average life of a outside top is 6-8 years depend on color and where you live.
Driving a rap top as a daily drive can have its bad points. All US build rag tops tend to leak. Your going to get wet if you drive it in the rain and need to roll the window. Unlike a hard top the convertible supports act like guides to channel the water into the drivers window.
On the plus side there is nothing better the hot summer night top down cruise on a old country road up the side of a mountain. In my 67 I dont even turn the radio on I just lisen the the rumble of the exhaust.

Thanks folks. Gorn, all I have is a Carfax and Autocheck reports. I plan on giving it a good going over soon. Will be a daily driver but will be garage kept and probably not driven in snow(not a good idea anyway) or heavy rain. Is there a treatment to put on the top to prolong life?
Montecarlogirl I will post some pics as soon as I get her cleaned up.
Thanks for the welcome and the helpful info.
