My 87 Iroc
Hello, Im a new member and have some questions about my car. I bought it in 1992 and have babied the car since. Its an 87 all original paint, yellow with the 19C black interior with grey piping on the seats and grey arm rests and accents. 5.0l auto. I have driven other 5.0l irocs and for some reason mine all stock is a different car. From a stop itll burn the tires and it pulls hard, it has the 140mph 240kmh speedo, rear disc brakes, factory bilstein shocks, engine oil cooler, G80posi with 3.23 gears, A/C. For some reason I cant find info on the car because all the info i find says the options my car has only came with the 1LE option or G92 but has neither. I know the car is all stock so was it ordered that way? Anyone else have the same options as me? Id like to know what the car is worth, its mint and always stored for winters, never even sees the rain. Everything is original except the tires. Even has the original spark plug wires that are 31 years old but still runs great. Do I have something special here?

As a general rule high dollar all original cars need to be graded at a car show. A real Camaro show, the will be graded 0-100, 100 is a perfect car sitting at the end of the assemble line. Some say there is no such thing as a 100 car because once it was driven out of the factory to the parking lot it becomes a 99. The grading is tuff. I have a friend and he spends 2-1/2 hour before every show cleaning his already clean car.
There is no 87 LE1, GM offered the LE1 in 88 but there was only 4 made. I am not aware of any higher output TPI 305 and I was a GM master tech from 85-90. If they existed I was suppose to be trained on them. It may be possible the original owner had the car chipped. This was a aftermarket PROM and a timing adjustment that required running 93 octane gas, if I remember right. We installed these at customer request in both Camaro and the Monte SS. I remember the cars responded pretty well to the prom upgrade. Some of the kits included a shift kit and they would chirp second gear and with the right exhaust they sounded way faster then they really where but that is coming from a guy that was daily driving a 350hp/4 speed 74 Camaro.
As for value it would depend on the Grade, options and miles on the clock. The most desired options in the 87 Iroc would be the 5 speed or the 350. On paper the 350 is only slightly faster then the 305 but take from someone that drove both brand new on the same day, there is at least a 20% torque gain. To back up my claim GM did not offer the T-5 5-speed with the 350 because they said the 350 had to much torque. Check out Hagerty for a estimate.
