Smile Looking to purchase my first camaro

Hello Everyone,

I have just joined this forum. I was looking to get a little friendly advice.

I have decided to follow through on a life long dream of mine and purchase a Camaro. And, believe it or not, my wife has given me the go ahead!

I have always loved the look of the camaro, particularly anything from the late 60's through to early 1980's.

I am not a car expert by any stretch. I have just always wanted one of these cars. I am looking for something I can enjoy without worrying to much, so I will be looking for something at a reasonable price.

Anywho, I have two questions for all you experts:

1) Is there any specific year range that is optimum (cheap) from a maintenance perspective? I don't want to be shoveling cash into a money pit, so any thoughts on a specific year range that is "affordable" to maintain would be appreciated

2) Storage - I dont have a garage. I am looking into either (a) a canvas car storage unit or (b) renting a spot in a bar / self storage facility. Any thoughts on this? Is a canvas storage idea crazy? If I did it right - with ply wood floors and proper anchoring, would it give me adequate protection from the elements (I live in southern Ontario, Canada).

I can't wait to read the thoughts of all you guys.

Thanks Again,

Savingmypennies (Brad)

hay savinmypenneys welcome to the forum. if your lookin for minimum mantainance then a 2010 or newer camaro would be the one you want. the next newest is an 02 which is conciderably older and will require work. i will say i got a good first 4th gen in the first 93 i had. new opti, plugs, plug wires and changing the oil. that was it for 100k miles. now this 93 i have taken a bit different route. i guess you need to think about what you want and look around. the 5th gen will handle better than the 4th and the 4th gen better than the 3rd and ect. garage would be best, we do have a couple friends from the north on here so maybe they have some ideas that will work for ya

Welcome to the forum pennies. I'd have to go with craby on the 5th gen thing. But you have to keep in mind that even with a new car, eventually you'll be replacing things on it.
