I am looking for a project 67-69 Camaro for my son and I to rebuild together over the next few years.

We have been looking at all kinds of sites, some legit and some not so legit, and are having a hard time discerning where and how to find the right car.

Looking for any feedback from anyone. Jason

 

keep your eyes and ears open, it will come to you. craigslist, local adds, take a drive every weekend and look for her hiding and waiting.

 

Good luck, they're out there but there's a lot of others guys (and gals) looking for the same so you have to be in the right place at the right time for a good deal, you snooze you lose they go quick.

 

Like Y2K said be ready with cash. For every car that comes up the guy will get 50 people that want to see it and some people have been looking for years.

You really want to know what level of project you are willing to take on and what are your goals. Are you skilled enough to take on a restoration that includes frame repair? Buying a solid shell up in the Northern states is going to cost 10K so if your serious you need that kind of cash at hand. You want a solid car that will one day be a number matching show car you would almost double the cost of a solid car.

Back in the day you could grab a trailer and head south to find a good deal but the internet has kinda killed that. The price of these cars went insane around 2007 and just about anything that did not need 10k worth of body work was scoped up by shops and restored.

 

Good advice from craby, Gorn and Y2K. I bought my 69 in 1986 from a surfer (original owner) in Manhattan Beach. It wasn't for sale, but I left a note to call me if he wanted to sell. He called about 2 weeks later saying he wanted to get a van for his boards, so he sold it to me. I still have it! So, leave a note is another option .Don't buy sight unseen, if you can't see the car for some reason, hire someone to look it over.
