Led turn signals question

Some websites recommend a pair of load resistors for LED turn signal lights. Will it work or burn out faster if I don't get load resistors?

The LED's just may not work.

I believe all you need to do is replace your flasher unit with an electronic flasher.

Or replace it with a 552 flasher.
552 does not rely on load to set the flash rate.
But an electronic one would work.

Not trying to hijack the thread but I'm also about to go to LEDs for my signals and need to try changing the flasher anyway since my signals stopped working.
Is this what you mean by 552?
