Huge Camaro Fan
I have been reading some forum threads but whether or not a Camaro is a reliable vehicle and what about the engine.
I have to say that a car is only as good as how it is taken care of. I live in the Northeast. I invested a small amount of money and bought a "winter" car. My Camaro has never been driven in the winter. She has just over 100,000 miles. Very very few problems over the years. Mostly consumables...tires, wiper blades, fluids, etc. I do expect at 13 years old that I will need to replace things but I do my best to make the parts last as long as possible. Also, if I can do the work...I do! Who wants to pay some shop $40 labor to replace a front side marker light bulb.
I change the oil (now syntheic blend since 60,000 miles)every 3,000 miles or LESS!. I had the alternator replaced. I make it my business to know as much about this car, how it works and its parts as I can and am a girly girl. My first set of brakes went 45,000 miles. I just had the tensioner pulley replaced after 13 years. Overall, this is the best car I have ever owned and I had another Camaro that was a V8 which was super but this 97 Camaro is so much better on gas...speed...it has IT! for sure..just ask the Sheriffs in my County!! he he!
I also had a 79 L82 Corvette. I love the Camaro much better. Given a choice I would choose a Camaro everytime. The handling is fantastic. I am hoping that she will outlive me because I have been unable to find any car that I would prefer to drive.
I would recommend a Camaro to anyone who is willing to take care of it!!!
I look forward to gaining more knowledge about my Camaro through this forum.
