Hi from UK Camaro owner
Hi there, I'm Andy and I live in the rain doused greyness that is England !
I just picked up my 79 Camaro a few weeks back. I also have a 1980 Trans Am which I've owned for a couple of years and which I've prepped for drag racing, but it's not street legal so I've been looking for another Trans Am or Camaro for a while to enjoy on the roads and this was too good an opportunity.
This one was dry stored in a barn for 19 years and was rescued five or six years ago by a couple of enthusiasts who got it prepped and sorted for use back on the road. It's pretty phenomenal underneath for a UK car and the only place which has got hit by rust is where the rear rails hit the lower inner rear valance, that's it. Everywhere else underneath on it looks like a 5 year old car !!
The paintwork had faded so they bare metalled it and laid on a new coat of the original colour (or as close a match as they could muster), It's OK but could really do with some attention in the near future, but looks remarkably good for a home done spray job.
There's a few little tasks need doing on it and eventually I'll get a proper oven re-spray done on it after I've tackled the rear valance, other than that, I'm loathe to do anything too radical to it as it is so original and un-touched, just drive and enjoy
Anyway, look forward to being a part of the community here (I'm also on the 78TA forums and the AstroSafari forums as I have a 93 GMC Safari to tow the Trans Am around), and look forward to bending the ears of the experts on here as I play with the Camaro.
