Default Hey All, new 69 Camaro Owner!!!

Just figured I'd jump in and say hello to all as you might see me in and out of the forums with various questions about my 69 Camaro I just purchased

My pops is a big mopar guy so this doesn't sit well with him,lol but he will be the guy helping me get this thing squared away as she does have some minor issues that need to be addressed but at the end of the day I feel I got a decent car to work with.

added some pics and will start gendering the forums!

Welcome to the Club.
Nice ride, and FYI, you have '68 & earlier accessory drive as it appears there is a short water pump - no clearance between back of pump and timing cover, and alternator on driver side as '69 & later have pass side mounting and a hole between pump and timing cover, aka, long water pump.
Remember this when getting arts.
Enjoy the new cruise.

So you're saying that my engine is a 68? I think this engine came originally out of a corvette but am not positive, I'm going to eventually try to get a 396 in it but that's down the road =)

Other then that thanks for the warm welcome to the forums, I am sure as soon as I got the time to explain some of the issues I have with it Ill be on here m/

At least the accessory drive and water pump is '68 & older.
Reading the engine code on pass deck of block above fuel pump would tell original application of engine.

Still a nice ride, enjoy her.

Yea it is a 1968 327 that came out another Camaro, I just verified that with the seller, I knew the engine wasn't original which in all reality for me don't bug me much as I planned on trying to find a 396 to eventually go into it.

As long as you're going big I'd keep an eye out for a 427 or 402 since it's not an original big block car anyway, not that there's anything wrong with a 396 but if you're going big why not bigger.
Of course a 454 will be the easiest to find but most will be low compression smog motors and of course they are externally balanced so a different flywheel and balancer would be in order.
I'd do a 454 in a heartbeat though if you plan on a rebuild and find a good deal on one, lots of potential.
A 402 from a pickup truck can be a good find, good chance it would have 4 bolt mains and a steel crank.
Whatever Rat you find keep in mind you'll need a big block heater core a bigger radiator and all the accessory brackets.
