Cool Help! What would be the correct touch-up color

My 2000 has suffered a few dings from highway travel as well as a week in the parking garage at the airport (a trailer hitched knocked some paint off mt front cap which I'm not to happy about. At any rate, does the VIN code indicate the color of the vehicle in any way or can anyone tell by a picture. I am "color challenged" and have trouble with reds and greens. My wife says burgandy but that is not a GM touchup color. I tried Dark cherry but it is not a match. Any help would be appreciated.

Also, I was washing my vehicle up today and noticed some of the paint peeling on the drivers lower rear panel - anyone else encountered this and what is the best way to prevent it from peeling any further.

hey, is the paint on the back peeling or is there rust under it. rust will cause the paint to bubble sort of.
