Default help with 1969 SS brakes

Hi everyone, new guy here...just got my new to me 1969 SS 350 home this weekend and the brakes barely stop the car...pedal is close to floor and brake warning light comes on with hard application...checked fluid and the front master cylinder chamber was full and the rear chamber was empty..filled it with fluid and no change..no visible leaks....looks like there are new front pads, but I havent pulled the wheels yet...can I get some ideas on where to start? thank you for any help....Butch

You have a leak. The chambers you are talking about do not use fluid if its empty you have a leak. The light means there is more pressure in the front then in the back or the reverse.

Your master cylinder has 2 reservoirs, the larger one is for the front rotors. They is no way we car tell you where the leak is. It can be in a metal lines or a wheel cylinder/caliper.
