Default Non SS 396 Camaro

Hello everyone!
I have been on the Swedish besiktning with my 1969 camaro. My Camaro has the ZZ4 350cui 355horse crate engine.

To be able to drive your car in Sweden it has to go through the "Besiktning" first.

The "besiktnings man" told me that the 1969 camaro only could have max 325hp. And if it is more horsepower it require disc brakes.
I know that you cuold have up to 430hp in the 427. But what about disc brakes?
Was it possible to order a non SS camaro with drum brakes and a 396 engine?
Anyone who know if you could have a 1969 Camaro with 396 engine and drumbrakes from the factory?

Best regards

Starting in 69, the SS models came with front disc brakes, they were a requirement. 427 cars were based off the SS model. So to answer your question, no you couldn't get a 396 with drum brakes.

Right. 396 was an SS only option.

If it were a 1967-1968, then a 396 could have drumbrakes?

Correct. The 1969 SS package automatically included front disc brakes, 67-68 did not.

I think I would upgrade to disk breaks on the front anyway, it is a good upgrade and could always be swapped back later to make it all orginal.
