Hello Camaro Fans
Hello Camaro fans.
I do not currently own a Camaro. The only Camaro I have ever owned was in the mid-seventies. I bought a used 1968 model with a 307 V8 and a Powerglide. It was charcoal grey metallic with Ansen aluminum wheels and dual exhaust.
While sitting at a traffic light, the engine grenaded and threw a rod through the block. I had it towed to a friends wrecking yard. For a mere $250 he pulled the 307 and replaced it with an LT1 350 from a 1970 Corvette. Yup. It ran REAL well with the 350.
I eventually pulled the drive train, bucket seats and a few other pieces to power a 1953 Chevy Sedan Delivery and sold the remaining Camaro shell.
My wife and I are now retired and we would like to own one more “special” car before we get too old to enjoy it. We’re both in our mid-fifties. Besides the ’68 Camaro, we’ve owned a few other “special” vehicles over the years including a 1973 Charger SE Broughm powered by a built 440, my wife’s resto-rodded ’66 Mustang, a ’99 Mustang GT (also the wife's car), a ’69 Impala SS 427, three very quick El Caminos ( 2-1965’s and a 1970) and a ’62 Impala (SS Clone).
We are considering the new Mustang and the new Challenger but are most exited about the new Camaro, in particular, the V-6 model. If GM can get the exhaust sound right that will pretty much cinch it for the Camaro. Just as long as it doesn’t sound like a tuner car.
We are really looking forward to getting out and trying on a new Camaro.
I’ve signed up on this forum since the new Camaro is #1 on our list. I figured it was time to stop lurking and start participating.
