Hated that Camaro
Greetings all. I've always been a corvette guy having owned 7 different ones in the last 30 years. I sold the one I had left and decided to get a Camaro to drive for fun in the summer. I ended up with a 2011 LE/RS six cylinder. Times have changed and you no longer need a big cubic inch motor to go fast.
Anyway, I had the Camaro for about a month and sold it back to the dealership I got it from at about a $4000 loss. It was without a doubt the worst manual shift I have ever had. I won't go into too many details just to say you'd think I had never owned a manual shift before if you saw me driving the Camaro.
I'm still thinking about another Camaro and I was wondering if anyone could tell me when, or if, the manual transmission was changed on later models. Was the transmission in the 2011 LT 6 cylinder also used in the 2011 SS? Thanks in advance.

The clutch travels too far down and back before going into the next gear, sometimes you really have to jerk on the stick to go into the next gear and when reengaging it just isn't smooth as the RPM is too high or too low for the next gear.
One thing worth mentioning, the car had 6 owners since 2011 yet the millage was still low fro a 2011 @ 26000. I wonder if maybe this particular Camaro had unknown issues.

From what I can find on youtube it seem the manual 2011 Camaro has the Aisin AY-6 6-Speed Manual Transmission. The review of this transmission wasn't good. The guy driving it said "the gear spacing was awkward" which is the problem I had.
Interesting,I wonder if it was just in the V6 cars or also in the V8 cars.
I pulled this from google: RevMax, a reputable transmission rebuilder, had this to say about the Aisin, " It was build with extremely low quality internal parts and its capacity to handle increased power in stock form is extremely low.
