Default Good evening

Hello! I just recently picked up a '79 Berlinetta with some nice Z options installed and I can't wait to really get into it! I've already gone over the brakes (replaced the front rotors, bearings, pads) and thinking about replacing the Quadra jet carb with a Holly 350, maybe going a step further and replacing the factory air cleaner with an Edelbrock. Of course that's after I figure out why it runs for about 15 seconds then dies. I'm thinking fuel filter and/or vacuum leak.

Glad I found this site!

Welcome, what size engine do you have?
The Holley 350cfm is very small carb and designed to replace a 2 barrel.
If you already have a Quadrajet (stock GM 4 barrel) I'd keep it or get it rebuilt if not trade it in on a rebuilt as a core.

Thats way to small of carb. Run at least a Q-jet. Or a carb of 625
cfm -750 CFM.
