car dolly or flat bed

Default car dolly or flat bed

just purchase a 1969 roller , engine needs reassembling , I need to move out of storage to my house about 4 miles do you think it would be fine to use a car dolly I can rent

As long as the rear is mounted up and nothing is falling off like the exhaust or the drive shaft. You need to be sure the brakes in the back are not locked up. Also you need to figure out lighting. I think U-Haul provides magnet lights. I have flat towed with a chain cars farther then 4 miles , cars with brakes that is. A roller on a dolly is a pretty light load compared to a full car on a trailer. The weight would be less then a fully loaded single axel landscaping trailer and as a general rule they do not even come with brakes.

Here in PA car dollies are one of the few "trailers" that do not need title or registration. I believe that is because the State would rather you use a dolly then flat tow your car.

thanks, tranny exhaust and drive shaft are all out

No problem,like gorn said I've chain towed cars with brakes and a person steering farther than that short hop.
Just make sure your car is well secured to the dolly and the dolly is well secured to your tow vehicle and safety chained.

I did use a flat bed and got it home, this was a barn find and very solid car. I am new to this, is there a site i can enter vin number and learn all about the car original color ect....
